Process

The Alloy Refurbishment process

  • 01

    Assessment

The refurbishment process begins with a thorough inspection of the wheels to identify any damage or imperfections. Technicians assess the extent of the repairs required and determine the most appropriate course of action.

  • 02

    Preparation & cleaning

The technicians remove the wheels from the vehicle and proceed with the refurbishment process. The wheels are thoroughly cleaned to remove dirt, brake dust, and any other contaminants.

  • 03

    Sanding & priming

The wheels are sanded down to create a smooth surface, removing imperfections and preparing them for the application of a new finish. The alloys are then primered to ensure the alloy has a good adhesion prior to the painting phase.

  • 04

    Painting

A new finish is applied to the wheels using a painting technique. Painting involves applying a liquid paint coating, which is also cured to achieve a similar result.

  • 05

Diamond cutting (this step will not apply for a standard alloy)

Once the painted wheel has been cured, it will be mounted onto a special CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) lathe, and the face of the wheel will be precision machined to give it the diamond cut finish.

  • 06

    Lacquering

A clear coat is applied on top of the paint to provide additional protection and enhance the appearance of the wheel.

  • 07

    Baking

The wheels are cured at the appropriate temperature to ensure that the finish is fully hardened and bonded to the surface.

  • 08

    Quality check & reinstallation

The refurbished wheels undergo a final inspection to ensure the quality of the work. Once approved, they can be rebalanced & reinstalled on the vehicle.
